Coming up we have a light heavyweight kickboxing rules bout between Aaron Newton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Akihiko Yamato (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Aaron Newton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Akihiko Yamato!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Daniel Bishop and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Yamato ducks under a wild hook from Newton.
Yamato lands a leg kick that knocks Newton off balance momentarily.
Nice body kick from Yamato.
Newton walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Yamato ducks under a wild hook from Newton.
Akihiko Yamato seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Yamato throws out a powerful jab.
Yamato avoids the body shot from Newton.
Yamato scores with a nice body kick.
Newton looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
A thudding body kick lands there by Yamato!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Yamato lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Newton crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Yamato - the referee stops the clock and Newton gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Yamato. Newton manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
A chopping leg kick lands by Yamato.
Newton is breathing heavily.
Yamato lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Newton takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Newton chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Yamato can pounce on him.
Newton blocks a head kick by Yamato.
Newton with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Yamato to score with a decent uppercut.
Newton throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Nice uppercut there from Yamato.


It looks like Aaron Newton has been cut.
Yamato changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Yamato throws a good cross that connects.
Yamato thuds his shin into the meat of Newton's side.
Yamato cracks Newton with a right hand to the side of the head.


Newton is rocked!
A slapping leg kick lands for Yamato.
Yamato dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
This has been an exciting period of action!
That kick from Yamato tenderised Newton's leg. Newton is trying to keep his angry face on.

Yamato scores a knockdown with a big right hand! Newton beats the count and gets back to his feet. The referee asks him to walk forwards and it appears he is OK so we'll continue the bout.
Oh Newton is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Yamato cracks Newton with a perfect right hand that drops him to the mat! Newton is sitting up but I can't see if he's OK from my position. The referee's count has reached 5,6,7 and Newton is still not up. Can he make it? 8,9,10! He's out! Newton could not beat the count!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:30 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punch). Akihiko Yamato!
A relieved looking Akihiko Yamato thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
