PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Steve Orvel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Banjo Sanjo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Orvel might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Iron Maiden The Wicker Man . Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Steve Orvel!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Banjo Sanjo!
The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Paulo Santos and Felipe Paraventi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sanjo moves in looking to clinch but Orvel pushes him off.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Orvel.

Orvel is trying to get an arm triangle but Sanjo is defending well.

Orvel tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Orvel has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Sanjo is not content to let Orvel control the position.

Orvel remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Orvel is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Sanjo is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

We've been hearing good reports from Orvel's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Orvel escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Sanjo gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Orvel turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Orvel manages to end up in side control.

Banjo Sanjo has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Sanjo accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

And that's the end of the fight!

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Orvel, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
