Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Fred Matador (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pai Mei (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fred Matador has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Fred Matador!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Pai Mei!
The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Ren Mimura and Shigeki Sano.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mei avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Mei shoots in looking for a takedown. Matador tries to sprawl out of it but Mei keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the ropes. Matador manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Matador throws a nice looking combination but Mei bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Mei seems to be looking for submissions.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.

Matador rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Mei moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Matador darts in and clinches Mei up against the ropes.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Matador controls Mei momentarily but Mei frees himself.

Matador bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Mei's guard.

Mei is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Matador wants to control from the top but Mei keeps moving.

Mei has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Matador off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Mei tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Matador swivels and escapes.
Matador throws a right hand that Mei ducks under and follows up with a left that Mei also avoids with ease.

Mei closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Pai Mei showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. And we move into the final round!


Matador looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Mei shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Matador as he avoids it easily.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Mei is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Matador can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Matador is squirming around, avoiding Mei's attempts to control the action.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Fred Matador.
I think Matador has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
