The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Solid does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Solid misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Solid is looking to slow Hoitz down with leg kicks.
Boba Solid seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hoitz takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Solid throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Hoitz's head.
Both fighters circling a little - Solid finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.

Solid has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

Hoitz shoots for a double leg takedown but Solid sprawls well. He's pushed Hoitz's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Hoitz's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Solid will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

That's time! Solid's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Solid stuffs the takedown.
Boba Solid is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Hoitz misses with a wild body shot.
Hoitz throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Solid's waist but Solid gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Hoitz off to one side.

Solid connects with a leg kick. Hoitz looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Hoitz throws a big shot that misses.

Hoitz feints and as Solid raises his hands in defense, Hoitz changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Hoitz passes Solid's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Solid has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Hoitz is working away from the top position though.
Solid is looking to improve his position.

Solid wants to get back to his feet.

Solid is trying to stand up here but Hoitz is controlling him well.
Solid knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Hoitz on the ground.

Hoitz seems to be working for a kimura but Solid defends the submission attempt.
Hoitz frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hoitz moves to the back.
Solid trying to control the action but Hoitz just sinks the hooks in.

Hoitz has his opponent's back and is working for the choke.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
