The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shakes swinging wildly here.
A nice leg kick lands there from Atkins.

Shakes gets a clinch.
Atkins tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Shakes ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Shakes no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Shakes is trying to hold Atkins in close to prevent damage but Atkins has managed to pass into half guard.

Atkins is working for a submission of some sort.
Shakes tries to get to full guard but Atkins has control of the leg.

Atkins seems to be working for a kimura but Shakes defends the submission attempt.

Shakes is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Shakes tries to pass the half guard into mount. Atkins knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Shakes passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Atkins!
Atkins tries to control Shakes's body but Shakes pushes him off. Atkins squirms to his side and now Shakes has his back!
Shakes trying desperately to keep hold of the dominant position.
