Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Nicholas Nuke Em (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ricardo Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nicholas Nuke Em could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Ricardo Smith's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Nicholas Nuke Em!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Ricardo Smith!
The judges for this bout are Ron Honeybunn, Bruno Hogan and Topper Green.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nuke Em looks to throw the jab but Smith is out of range.
Nuke Em scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Smith tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Nuke Em closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Smith's guard.
Smith controlling the position.
Nuke Em stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Smith swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Smith keeping moving, preventing Nuke Em from controlling successfully.
Smith is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Smith is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Smith tries to clinch there but Nuke Em circles away.

Smith uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Nuke Em.

Smith clinches.
Nuke Em is trying to break the clinch but Smith has him pressed against the cage.
Nuke Em has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Come on Smith - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Nuke Em wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Smith has him pressed against the cage.
Smith tries to work over Nuke Em's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

Nuke Em has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Smith regains guard immediately.

Nuke Em has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Nicholas Nuke Em wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Nuke Em throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Smith.
Smith stuns Nuke Em with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Nuke Em throws a series of punches but Smith avoids them all with ease.
Nuke Em misses with a wild combination.
Smith wants to clinch.
Smith tries for a takedown but Nuke Em sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Nuke Em shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Nuke Em showed some decent athleticism there.

Nuke Em stalling away here and it's allowed Smith to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
Smith pulls Nuke Em in close to prevent any damage.
We've been informed that Smith has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Smith closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Smith misses with the ground and pound.
Smith remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Nuke Em is trying to buck Smith off.
Nuke Em is not content to let Smith control the position.

Smith cracks Nuke Em with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Smith is looking to take a break and control but Nuke Em is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Ricardo Smith has got the better of the ground game so far.
Nuke Em is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Smith in particular looking to stall.

Smith is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Nuke Em has managed to free his arm - good work.

Smith is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Smith wants to pass to mount but Nuke Em is defending the position.

Smith looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Nuke Em with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Smith seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Smith wants to take a breather but Nuke Em is having none of it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Smith prevents Nuke Em from improving his position.

Nuke Em is looking to escape.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Ricardo Smith was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Smith tries to clinch up but Nuke Em circles away and keeps his distance.
Nuke Em throws a sloppy body shot
and Smith counters with a good, hard body kick but Nuke Em shrugs it off.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Smith clinches.
Smith stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.
Smith has Nuke Em pressed against the cage, preventing Nuke Em from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Smith is pushing Nuke Em up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Nuke Em lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ricardo Smith showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


Nuke Em keeps the fight on the outside.
Smith keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Smith throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Nuke Em stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Nuke Em misses with a wild combination.
Smith tries to clinch up but Nuke Em circles away and keeps his distance.
No joy there for Smith, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Nuke Em fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Smith looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Nicholas Nuke Em is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Smith has Nuke Em up against the cage in a clinch.
Smith looking to slow down the pace here.
Nuke Em is defending well against a takedown attempt.

Smith throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Nuke Em blocks it with crossed arms.
Smith doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Nuke Em with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Smith tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Nuke Em's elbow.
Nuke Em blocks a body shot from Smith.
Smith lands a nice knee to the body.

Smith prevents Nuke Em from breaking the clinch.

Nuke Em can't break the clinch.
The referee is keeping an eye on Smith - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
A nice glancing elbow lands by Smith.

Nuke Em has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Smith uses from the top position.
Smith seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Nuke Em breaks from the clinch.
Smith tries to clinch but Nuke Em is having none of it.
Some bone on bone action there as Smith checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Smith tries to clinch there but Nuke Em circles away.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Nuke Em throws a left and a right that both miss
and Smith counters with a low kick, right behind Nuke Em 's knee.

And that's the end of the fight!
Ricardo Smith comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Smith has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
