The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Dempsey drops Van Dijk with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Van Dijk looks back up at him and smiles so Dempsey waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.

Van Dijk is rocked!

It looks like Nick Van Dijk has been cut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Dempsey circles and sees the opportunity to plant his feet and throw a really nice straight left hand that drops Van Dijk to the canvas! Van Dijk doesn't know where he is but he's trying to survive - Dempsey keeps piling on the pressure and forces the referee to step in! This one is aaaaaall over!

A relieved looking Reginald Dempsey thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
