PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Daniel Dennis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jenik Krejza (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jenik Krejza will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Daniel Dennis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jenik Krejza!
The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Matti Vanhoillinen and Anni Minnemäki.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dennis blocks a head kick by Krejza.
Dennis could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Krejza clinches up against the cage.
Krejza tries to break the clinch but Dennis is controlling the position.

Dennis works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Krejza wants to get back to his feet but Dennis is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Krejza utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Dennis is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Dennis works over Krejza with some ground and pound from guard.
Dennis engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Dennis chips away with some ground and pound.

Krejza has momentary wrist control but Dennis slips an elbow through the middle.
Dennis won't allow Krejza to get back to his feet.

Krejza can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Dennis controls the pace.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Dennis has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Dennis drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Dennis jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Dennis stays in close to Krejza's body and controls the position.
Krejza wants to stand and escape but Dennis is having none of it.

Dennis's corner is telling him to maintain position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Dennis instigates a clinch.

Dennis gets a trip takedown into half guard.
Dennis content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Krejza blocking the ground and pound attempt from Dennis.
Dennis seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
This has been an exciting period of action!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Krejza is trying to control but can't.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Daniel Dennis dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Krejza closes the distance and pushes Dennis back into the cage.
Krejza is trying to break the clinch but Dennis is controlling him.

Dennis pulls guard.
Krejza throwing strikes but missing.
Krejza is on the wrong end of a couple of strikes there.
Dennis is adopting a defensive guard.
Krejza trying to control but Dennis is working from the bottom.
Krejza is looking to stand up but Dennis won't let him.

Dennis is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Krejza throws a strike but Dennis rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Krejza is looking to stand up but Dennis isn't so interested in that idea.
Dennis scoring with punches to the head and body.
Dennis postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

Dennis thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Dennis is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Dennis stops Krejza from standing up.

Krejza has his feet on Dennis's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.

Dennis clinches.

Dennis successfully pulls guard.
Dennis is trying to control the position but Krejza postures up.
Dennis has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Krejza looking to sit in guard and control but Dennis gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Krejza is trying to control the position but Dennis postures up.
Krejza is breathing heavily.

Dennis distracts Krejza with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Krejza working a defensive guard but Dennis passes into half guard.
Krejza on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Dennis lands a nice short elbow.
Dennis not doing much here.
Krejza tries to kick Dennis off in order to stand up. Dennis Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.

Dennis tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Dennis has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Krejza takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Krejza being controlled for a moment.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Krejza bucks up and tries to throw Dennis off but instead Dennis has got his back!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Daniel Dennis dominated that second round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!



Excellent takedown into side control there by Dennis.
Krejza is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Krejza wants to control but Dennis postures up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Krejza is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Dennis is controlling him well.
Krejza is looking to get back to his feet here but Dennis is keeping cool and he's managed to take Krejza's back.
Dennis is landing with strikes. Krejza can't take much more of this.
Krejza takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Krejza wants to escape the position.
