Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Vajas Tomas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Luca Turilli (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Tomas might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Wasted Years. Turilli has chosen krolithika as his entrance music. On his way into the cage it seems that Vajas Tomas has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Vajas Tomas seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

With a record of 22 - 14 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Luca Turilli!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A looping hook to the body misses from Tomas. Turilli does a little dance to reset his feet.
Tomas bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Turilli's head backwards.
Turilli's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Tomas connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Turilli scrambles back to his feet.
Turilli walks forward, straight into a front kick from Tomas.

It looks like Vajas Tomas has been cut.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Turilli has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.

Tomas feints and then cracks Turilli's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Turilli down.

Turilli tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Tomas is able to avoid easily.
Turilli fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Tomas has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

Turilli has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Tomas.
Turilli walks forward, straight into a front kick from Tomas.

Tomas gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Tomas lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Turilli backwards.
Turilli swings away with an uppercut that misses.

I was talking to Tomas's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Tomas creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.
Tomas is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Turilli is keeping busy.
Turilli throws a punch but it's blocked by Tomas.

Tomas escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Tomas connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.

Nice uppercut lands for Tomas. That snapped Turilli's head back.
Turilli shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Tomas eats them both and turns towards Turilli to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Turilli lands a really nice looking cross but Tomas seems unphased.
Turilli has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Tomas.
Turilli walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Tomas checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.

Turilli changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Tomas looks to land a left hand but Turilli moved out of range nicely.
Turilli stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

With the two fighters working up against the cage, Tomas just misses with a elbow thrown towards Turilli's brow.
Tomas wants to get back to striking at distance but Turilli won't allow it.

Turilli pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Oh Tomas is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Tomas throws a body kick that misses.

Turilli moves into the clinch.
Tomas tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Turilli's elbow.
Turilli lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
Turilli is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Luca Turilli will probably get the nod.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
