Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gary Foolridge (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frankie King (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Frankie King!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Foolridge tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Foolridge has managed to clinch.
Foolridge lands with a short head shot on the inside.
Foolridge changes levels and goes for a takedown here. King fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Foolridge moves into the clinch.
Foolridge tries to score a body lock takedown but King shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
King is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Foolridge gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Foolridge stops a takedown attempt from King.
Foolridge stalling in the clinch but King improves position.
King should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Foolridge fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Foolridge wants to get back to striking at distance but King won't allow it.

King is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Foolridge can't fight it off and eventually King manages to take the fight to the floor. Foolridge looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Foolridge is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Foolridge lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for King!
Foolridge trying to control but King is having none of it.
King really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Foolridge. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Foolridge prevents King from getting the reversal.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Foolridge looking to control and managing it successfully.

Foolridge working for a submission but King is keeping him at bay.
King is trying desperately to improve position.
Foolridge wants to control the pace but King is squirming around nicely.

Foolridge is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but King is surviving well by controlling Foolridge's body position as best he can.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Foolridge lands a big shot there that rocks King but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Foolridge trying to control but King is having none of it.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Foolridge has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of King's face.
Foolridge with shots to the head and body - King looks very uncomfortable down there.
King is trying to escape the mount.
King has given up his back here.
Foolridge throws a big right hand but he misses and hits the mat. Ouch.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Will Foolridge go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Nice jab there from Foolridge.
King dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Foolridge. That did some damage!
Nice takedown defense from King. No joy for Foolridge on that attempt.
King stuffs the takedown attempt from Foolridge. Foolridge gets slowly back to his feet.
King tries to close the distance and clinch up but Foolridge swats him away and circles back towards the center.

King feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Foolridge is pulling down on King's head. It's preventing any offense from King, at least for the moment.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

King is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
King trying to control the position from guard on top but Foolridge is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Foolridge is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
King prevents Foolridge from getting back to his feet.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
King content to stall in guard here.
King won't allow Foolridge to sweep him here.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Horrible takedown by Foolridge or perhaps it was just good defense by King which made him look bad.

King fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
A low kick from Foolridge misses
and King makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Foolridge tries to close the distance and clinch up but King swats him away and circles back towards the center.
King throws a sloppy head kick and Foolridge moves out of range easily.
Foolridge moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Foolridge is looking to chop away at King's legs.

Foolridge closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Foolridge lands in his opponent's guard.

King working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Foolridge doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Foolridge manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

King keeping moving, preventing Foolridge from controlling successfully.
Foolridge stands and throws King's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Foolridge content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.

Foolridge is looking to take a break and control but King is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

That was a close second round but I would say that Gary Foolridge will probably get the nod.

King looks to score with a jab to the body but Foolridge is just out of range.
King shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Foolridge but Foolridge pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Foolridge clinches but King breaks the clinch
and King counters with a nice body shot.
Foolridge misses with a takedown attempt - King sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
King dodges the punch combination from Foolridge.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Foolridge ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
King takes a head kick and keeps coming.

Foolridge shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Foolridge wants to lay and pray for a moment but King keeps working.

Foolridge seems to be looking for submissions.
Foolridge uses his free foot to push down on King's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for King.
Foolridge avoids the attempt from King to control.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
King is working to get back to half guard.
Foolridge lands a big elbow.
King really trying hard to get back to half guard here.

King taking shots to the head.
Foolridge sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.

Foolridge get's back to his feet.
King tries to close the distance and clinch up but Foolridge swats him away and circles back towards the center.

King gets caught flat footed, as Foolridge shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Foolridge wants to control from the top but King keeps moving.
King wants to sweep here but Foolridge controlling him for the moment.

King has his foot on Foolridge's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Foolridge works his way back into a safe position though.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

King is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Frankie King has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

King working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Foolridge has passed into half guard!

Gary Foolridge showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Foolridge has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
