Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Craig Mason (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jake Ryan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ryan comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Girlfriend kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the super heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 43 - 20 - 5, fighting out of London, Jake Ryan!
The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Dmitry Maklakov and Aleksei Zolotukhin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mason lands a body shot.
Ryan fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Mason manages to avoid it.
Mason on the wrong end of a nice jab.
We've been informed that Ryan has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.
Ryan throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Ryan throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Mason tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Ryan was well out of range. Poor timing from Mason.

It looks like Jake Ryan has been cut.
Ryan takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Ryan throws a leg kick but Mason moved away.

Mason dives in and scores a takedown into Ryan's guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Mason drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Ryan manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Mason has Ryan in his guard.

Mason has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Ryan can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Mason is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Ryan wants to stand and escape but instead Mason has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Mason tries to free his leg and advance position but Ryan is retaining full guard.
Ryan is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Mason has gone for a leg lock! Ryan slips out almost immediately though and dives into Mason's guard.

Mason has his foot on Ryan's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Ryan works his way back into a safe position though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Mason escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Ryan gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Mason manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Ryan manages to get himself to full guard.

Ryan is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Mason looking to sit in guard and control but Ryan gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Mason has a closed guard, preventing Ryan from standing up.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Mason controls Ryan momentarily but Ryan frees himself.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Mason throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Ryan sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Ryan cracks the inside of Mason's front leg.
Mason lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Mason.
Mason tries to clinch up.
Ryan fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Mason manages to avoid it.
Ryan fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Mason has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Ryan throws a low kick but Mason moves out of range easily.
Ryan throws a low kick, looking for Mason's leg but Mason calmly moves out of range.
Mason takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.


It looks like Craig Mason has been cut.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Ryan throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Nice defenses there by Ryan.

Mason has closed the distance and engaged Ryan in a clinch.
Mason misses with a hook from the clinch.
Mason lands on the inside with an uppercut.
Mason avoiding damage.

Mason throws a head punch that misses.
Ryan goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Ryan takes a shot to the head.
Ryan lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
Mason is working Ryan over against the cage.
Mason lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Mason throws a head punch that misses.
Ryan blocks an uppercut.
A right hook to the body lands for Mason.
Mason lands a left hand that snaps the head of Ryan backwards.

Ryan breaks the clinch.

Mason shoots in and bounces Ryan off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Mason is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Ryan is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Ryan has escaped and now he's on top!
Ryan must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Mason working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Ryan doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Ryan manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Mason looking for a triangle here. Ryan is fighting it but it looks tight! Mason pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Ryan is tapping out - this one is all over!

After winning the bout, Craig Mason thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
