PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Carlos Meira (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Semore Butkiss (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Butkiss has chosen Mama said as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Carlos Meira!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Semore Butkiss!
The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Ryoma Takatsuka and Colin Fray.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Meira uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Butkiss.
Meira gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Butkiss counters with a one-two to the body.
Butkiss stuns Meira with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.

Meira shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Butkiss manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Meira won't allow Butkiss to get back to his feet.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Meira not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Meira passes Butkiss's left leg - he's now in half guard.

Meira is working for a kimura but Butkiss is defending it quite comfortably.

Meira is keen to just control but Butkiss is a slippery customer.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Meira has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Butkiss really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Meira. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Meira goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Butkiss is on top in guard.
Butkiss wants to stand and escape but instead Meira has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Meira stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Butkiss swivels though and keeps the full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
