Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Edmond Heath (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Spencer Shawn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Spencer Shawn has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Shawn darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Heath is controlling Shawn's trapped leg to prevent Shawn from advancing to side control.
Heath is trying to maintain the position but Shawn is very close to passing his half guard.
Heath pushes Shawn off looking to stand but Shawn dives back in and keeps control.
Well, if Shawn is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Shawn is nestled in close to Heath, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Heath.

Shawn drives through with a takedown into Heath's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Shawn is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Let's hope that Shawn has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Spencer Shawn has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Heath takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Heath.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Shawn scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Heath to see if he's OK.
Heath wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!

Shawn looks up at the clock and then as Heath takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Shawn smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Heath is rocked!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The referee asks Shawn politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Shawn prefers to stall for the moment though.
Oh Heath is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Shawn lands some shots froms side control.
Heath is pushing Shawn's head away, looking to escape. Shawn manages to hold on to the position though.
Shawn in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
Shawn really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Heath. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Shawn scores with a big shot from side control... and another... and another! Oh Heath is done here - save him referee! More strikes land and eventually the ref does step in and Shawn can finally stop beating on his defenseless opponent!
