The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gilbert swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Fire closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Gilbert is trying to maintain the position but Fire is very close to passing his half guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Fire in particular looking to stall.
Gilbert is looking for a sweep. Fire is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Gilbert wants to get back to his feet.
Fire trying to mount his opponent but Gilbert defends it.
Fire seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Rowen Fire.
Fire throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Rowen Fire seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Fire shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Gilbert counters with a head kick. That will keep Fire thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!

Fire closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Gilbert quickly recovers to half guard.

Fire maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Gilbert could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Fire has cracked it and Gilbert is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Fire!
