Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Mike Herbert (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Rackham (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jack Rackham looks lathargic as he enters the arena. Wake up son, you're about to have a fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Herbert looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Herbert takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Herbert throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Rackham makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Rackham.
Rackham doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

Herbert looking to sit in guard and control but Rackham gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Rackham seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Rackham might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Herbert kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Herbert wants to stand but Rackham is controlling the position.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Rackham gets caught flat footed, as Herbert shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Herbert knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Rackham on the ground.
Herbert wants to control from the top but Rackham keeps moving.
Herbertis looking to pass into half guard but Rackham pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Rackham is in guard.

Rackham decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Herbert, up you get!

Herbert drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Herbert is controlling the pace.

Rackham has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Herbert can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Rackham had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Herbert is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Rackham Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Herbert's back instead.
Herbert manages to reverse the position and now he's in Rackham's guard. Nice work there by Herbert.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Herbert feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
