The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rodriguez misses with a takedown attempt
and Alves counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

and Alves counters with a nice body kick.
Rodriguez wants to clinch up but Alves keeps it at a distance.

Rodriguez walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Alves tries to bum rush Rodriguez with a series of wild strikes but Rodriguez uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Alves shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Rodriguez eats them both and turns towards Alves to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.

and Alves scores with a counter punch that sends Rodriguez to the canvas! Alves smells blood - he's punishing Rodriguez with more strikes and the ref has stopped it! Rodriguez has no idea where he is - he's tackled the ref... oh dear, poor guy, the crowd is in hysterics!
