The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Timma gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Timma pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Smith ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Timma moves away.
Smith stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Timma.
Timma swings for the body but Smith moves out of range.
Timma cracks the inside of Smith's front leg.
Timma lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.

It looks like Devon Smith has been cut.
Smith tries to close the distance and clinch but Timma swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Smith moves out of range of the body kick.
Smith just misses with a punch to the body.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Smith walks into a straight right hand from Timma.
Smith fails in his attempt to clinch.
Kaspars Timma seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Timma throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Good shot there by Smith.
Smith slips under a jab.
Timma waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Smith.
Timma throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Smith scores with a hook to the body. Timma takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Smith fails in his attempt to clinch.

Timma moves out of range as Smith strikes.
Timma cracks Smith with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

I was talking to Smith's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

Smith breaks the clinch.
Smith tries to clinch there but Timma circles away.
The fighters circle momentarily. Smith darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

It looks like Kaspars Timma has been cut.
Timma swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Smith throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Timma stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Smith rushes Timma and presses him up against the cage.
Smith blocks an uppercut.
Smith lands a left hand.
Smith unloads with a big right hand that wobbles Timma! He's leaning against the cage trying to keep his feet but Smith is unloading with more strikes now! Timma drops to his knees and the referee stops the fight for a TKO!
