With a record of 9 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Andy Carroll!
The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Shigeki Fujiwara.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A left and a right from Carroll both land. Nice combination.


It looks like Shintaro Nomo has been cut.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Nomo checks a leg kick.
Nomo avoids the body shot from Carroll.
Carroll takes a swing at Nomo's ribcage but misses.
Carroll misses with the combination.
Carroll slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Carroll rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Nomo moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Nomo ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Carroll misses with a two punch combination.

Nomo takes a swing at Carroll's ribcage but misses.
Carroll misses with a head kick.
Nomo slips a jab and a cross from Carroll.
Nice shot lands for Carroll.
Carroll looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Carroll misses with a few strikes there.
Carroll fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Nomo checks it well.
Carroll misses with a body shot.
Nomo dodges the punch combination from Carroll.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Nomo lands a nice hook to Carroll's body. Carroll takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Carroll throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Nomo.

Andy Carroll seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A left lands for Carroll.
A big left from Carroll misses.
Carroll connects with a body shot that sends Nomo's belly button to the back.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Carroll fails to land with a series of punches.

Nomo throws a lazy right hand but Carroll sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Carroll swings for the body but Nomo moves out of range.
Nomo lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Nomo throws a poor cross that misses
and Carroll counters with a series of strikes. Nomo will be more careful next time no doubt.
Carroll dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Nomo showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Carroll.
Carroll fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Nomo throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Carroll scores with the left hand. Nomo knows he should have avoided that one.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Carroll misses with a left hand

and Nomo counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Nomo in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Carroll tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Nomo!
