Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Adalberto Duran (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Carlos Verde (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Adalberto Duran has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Adalberto Duran!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Carlos Verde!
The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Radbod Blank and Paul Aken.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Duran ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Verde moves away.

Verde changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Duran looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Duran tries to buck Verde off but Verde is having none of it.

Verde stands up and beckons Duran to his feet.
Duran displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Verde.
Duran shoots in looking for a takedown. Verde tries to sprawl out of it but Duran keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Verde manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Verde moves into range and clinches up with Duran.
Verde is pressed up against the cage. Duran has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Verde down to the mat. Verde avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Carlos Verde seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Duran counters with a single leg into guard. Verde didn't expect that.

Duran working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Duran wants to control from the top but Verde keeps moving.
Duran engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Verde wants to stand and escape but Duran is having none of it.
Verde is striking but Duran is not phased and passes to half guard.
Duran is trying to control. Verde wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Duran really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Adalberto Duran has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

Duran gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Verde to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Verde has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Verde shoots for a takedown but Duran saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Verde lands a couple of good shots and Duran has given up his back, trying to escape the position!

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Adalberto Duran.

Verde drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
You can see the frustration on Duran's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Verde has hold of Duran's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Duran manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Duran tries to reverse the position but Verde maintains control.

Verde has control of Duran's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Duran regains control of the situation pretty easily.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.



Verde fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Duran sprawls well initially but Verde persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Verde feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Verde's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

and Duran counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Duran shoots in looking for a takedown but Verde manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Duran's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Well Verde has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
