Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Adan Leonard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Little Joe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Little Joe has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Adan Leonard's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Adan Leonard!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Little Joe!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Daniel Franklin and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Joe fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Leonard sprawls well initially but Joe persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Adan Leonard wasn't doing enough on the ground.

Joe tries to roll over but Leonard keeps him under control.

Leonard perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Leonard seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Joe for as long as he can get away with.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Joe has eaten all the pies!

We're going to have a standup here because Adan Leonard wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Joe feints a jab promting Leonard to slip. Joe then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Leonard slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Joe throws a low kick but it's checked well by Leonard.
Leonard throws a wild body kick that Joe sees coming a mile off.

Leonard gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Joe to score an easy takedown into full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Leonard pulls Joe in close to prevent any damage.

Leonard's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Adan Leonard.
Leonard shoots for a double leg takedown but Joe sprawls well. He's pushed Leonard's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Leonard fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Joe avoids it really well and circles away.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Adan Leonard. That's going to take a lot out of him.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Joe accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Joe wants to control from the top but Leonard keeps moving.
Leonard throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Leonard really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Leonard closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Joe did well to prevent Leonard getting side control.
Leonard seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Joe wants to get back to his feet.

Joe forces Leonard back against the cage and clinches.

Leonard's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Joe looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Leonard fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Joe avoids it really well and circles away.

Joe breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Joe shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Leonard napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Joe cracks Leonard with a big right hand but Leonard just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Joe wants to stand but Leonard is controlling his arm.

Joe goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Leonard has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Joe but great work by Leonard.

Joe is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Leonard lands a few punches from side control.
Leonard creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Leonard is staying tight to Joe's torso, preventing him from escaping.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Adan Leonard overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Leonard remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Leonard has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Joe's face.

Leonard quickly switches position and commits to an armbar! It's a big risk for Leonard but it's paid off an Joe is forced to tap! Nice work by Leonard.
