PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jackson Sampson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Renolds (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Jackson Sampson has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Jackson Sampson seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Renolds looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Sampson shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Renolds's guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Jackson Sampson.
Sampson shoots in looking for a takedown but Renolds manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Sampson's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Sampson tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Renolds paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Renolds bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Sampson dodges the ground and pound from Renolds.
Sampson is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Renolds off and has taken his back!
Sampson tries to get the hooks in deep but Renolds pushed the leg off.
Jackson Sampson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Sampson is landing with strikes. Renolds can't take much more of this.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Sampson tries to clinch up but Renolds circles away and keeps his distance.
Sampson shoots for a takedown but Renolds saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Sampson jumps guard but Renolds stands there with Sampson around his waist. Sampson gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Sampson shoots in for a takedown but Renolds shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Mike Renolds is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Renolds looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Sampson tries to roll over but Renolds keeps him under control.

Sampson regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Renolds.

Renolds looking to sit in guard and control but Sampson gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Renolds is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Sampson makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Renolds throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Sampson tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Renolds is in Sampson's guard.

I think Sampson has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
