The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thomas tries to clinch there but Cartwright circles away.

Thomas shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Thomas was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Cartwright has hold of a guillotine but he's not going to be able to crank on it really with only half guard, so it's no trouble for Thomas. Oh but Cartwright has got full guard now! Oh boy! This one could be over very soon! Thomas goes limp - he's gone! Cartwright jumps up and celebrates with the crowd - fantastic submission finish!

After winning the bout, Cortland Cartwright thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
