Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Samson Savea (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tyquan Zaal (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tyquan Zaal has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Samson Savea!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tyquan Zaal!
The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Chris Saunders and Colin Fray.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Savea lands a jab to Zaal's midsection.
Savea ducks right into an uppercut from Zaal.
Savea fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Zaal manages to avoid it.
Savea fails to land with a series of punches.
Savea scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Zaal clobbers Savea with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Zaal misses with a looping left.
Savea goes for a double leg but Zaal avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Zaal continues to drive forward.

Zaal is fighting off a takedown attempt but Savea is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Zaal to the mat. Zaal regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Zaal has his foot on Savea's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Savea works his way back into a safe position though.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Tyquan Zaal hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Savea accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Savea shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Zaal sprawls well. Zaal wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Savea gets slowly back to his feet.
Savea takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.

Zaal throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Savea.

Savea closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Zaal quickly recovers to half guard.

Savea shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Savea throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Zaal was covering up waiting for the punch and Savea finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Zaal has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Tyquan Zaal comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Zaal has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

After the fight, Tyquan Zaal was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
