PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Uchiha Sasuke (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Praying Mantis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Uchiha Sasuke!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Praying Mantis!
The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Hirohito Nitta.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sasuke scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Sasuke throws a nice inside leg kick.
Mantis misses with an uppercut.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Sasuke, right into the meat.
Mantis throws a nice looking combination but Sasuke bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Mantis tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Sasuke was well out of range. Poor timing from Mantis.
Sasuke fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Mantis is out of range.
Sasuke lands a nice leg kick that just misses Mantis's sensitive parts.

Sasuke closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Mantis quickly recovers to half guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Sasuke is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Mantis sees it coming and defends easily.

Sasuke is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Mantis is just riding it out for now. Sasuke eventually gives up the hold.

Mantis wants to control but Sasuke is keeping busy and won't allow it.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Mantis pulls Sasuke in close to his closed guard and prevents Sasuke from doing any damage or advancing position.

The fighters circling - Mantis throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

A good leg kick by Sasuke.
Mantis tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Sasuke manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
A combination from Mantis does no damage.
Sasuke throws a low kick, looking for Mantis's leg but Mantis calmly moves out of range.
Mantis chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Sasuke can pounce on him.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Sasuke lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Mantis's coach down at Team Butcher Gym was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Mantis's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.

Sasuke feints and then cracks Mantis's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Mantis down.

Sasuke feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Mantis is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Sasuke manages to get to full guard.
Mantis must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Sasuke's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Sasuke changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Mantis looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Sasuke has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Mantis is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Sasuke yanks on the arm and Mantis is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Sasuke.
