Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jorge Assuncao (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cobalt Khalil (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Khalil has chosen The Hives - Walk Idiot Walk as his entrance music. Jorge Assuncao could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Cobalt Khalil's chin.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Matheus Silva and Thiago Cunha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Khalil defending well as Assuncao loads up on a big left hand.
Assuncao is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Khalil.
Assuncao misses with a wild body shot.
Assuncao throws out a loose jab but Khalil uses good head movement to avoid it.
Khalil will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Assuncao swings for the body but Khalil moves out of range.
Assuncao definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Assuncao fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Khalil manages to avoid it.
Jab, jab by Assuncao - just one landing.
It looks like Cobalt Khalil has been cut.
Khalil slips a jab and a cross from Assuncao.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Khalil is defended easily by Assuncao.

Assuncao swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
enabling Khalil to counter with a crisp jab.
The fighters circling - Assuncao throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Assuncao thows a body shot but no joy.
Assuncao throws an overhand right that lands on Khalil's shoulder, as Khalil tries to avoid the shot.
Khalil dives in and grabs Assuncao's left leg, looking for a takedown. Assuncao pushes down on Khalil's head and hops out.
Jorge Assuncao has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Cobalt Khalil.
Assuncao moves to clinch but Khalil breaks away
so Khalil counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Assuncao is refusing to be controlled, as Khalil sits in half guard.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Khalil working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.
Khalil is taking a breather. Assuncao says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Assuncao wants to control but Khalil is keeping busy.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Khalil connects with a nice short shot to Assuncao's temple.
Khalil is keen to just control but Assuncao is a slippery customer.
Khalil is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Cobalt Khalil wasn't active enough on the ground.

Assuncao is really struggling to find his range with his punches. Khalil's reach advantage is clearly causing him problems.

The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Assuncao might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Assuncao is in a horrible position here. Khalil smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Assuncao tries to lock up and control but Khalil gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Khalil cracks Assuncao with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Khalil fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Khalil can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Assuncao is looking to escape.
Khalil postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Assuncao looks a forlorn figure.

Assuncao takes a big shot to the dome and his eyes have rolled back in his head! Khalil's killer instinct has kicked in as he finishes the fight with more strikes. Impressive finish.

Cobalt Khalil decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
