Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ray Douglas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Juan Valdez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ray Douglas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Juan Valdez!
The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Daniel Cesar and Emerson Jorge.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Valdez tries to clinch up against the ropes, rushing in to close the distance. Douglas manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Douglas throws a head kick but Valdez moves out of range.
We've been hearing reports that Douglas has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Valdez stuffs the takedown attempt from Douglas. Douglas gets slowly back to his feet.
Valdez throws a right hand that Douglas ducks under and follows up with a left that Douglas also avoids with ease.
Valdez closes the distance but Douglas moves to the side

and Douglas moves into the clinch.
Valdez doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Valdez is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the ropes.

Valdez breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Valdez is looking to clinch.
Douglas takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Valdez fails with an attempt to clinch.
Douglas slips a jab and a cross from Valdez.
A jab lands there for Valdez.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Douglas changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Valdez looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Douglas has knee on belly and moves into mount.
Douglas looking to control but Valdez is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Valdez wants to control but Douglas is having none of it.

Valdez is squirming around, avoiding Douglas's attempts to control the action.

Douglas stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.
Valdez tries to close the distance and clinch up but Douglas swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Valdez darts in trying to clinch
and Douglas counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Valdez is lucky that one didn't land flush.

Douglas shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Valdez is trying to defend but Douglas finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Valdez is looking to control Douglas's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Valdez avoid being mounted?
Valdez is staying active underneath Douglas, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Valdez on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Douglas uses his free foot to push down on Valdez's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Valdez.

Valdez reaches up to try and control the position but Douglas seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Valdez rolls and tries to escape and now Douglas has his back!

Douglas is working for the choke. I would put my money on him to finish from this position. He's rolled onto his back and has dragged Valdez with him. Valdez is trying to defend but Douglas has an arm under the chin now! Valdez grimaces and is forced to tap out!
