Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Umbrella Leg (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jake Gurel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Umbrella Leg!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jake Gurel!
The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Roger Salmon and Chris Saunders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gurel lands with a nice combination. Leg backs away looking to recover.

Leg tries to keep at a distance but Gurel has taken the fight into the clinch.
Leg has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Gurel is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Leg has Gurel pressed against the cage, preventing Gurel from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Gurel's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Gurel lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Gurel will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Gurel buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.

Gurel closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Leg to the mat! Leg manages to get full guard.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Leg looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Gurel engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Gurel wants to control from the top but Leg keeps moving.
Gurel is looking to stand up but Leg won't let him.
Gurel must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Leg had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Gurel defends it easily.

Leg looking for a guillotine here but Gurel defends easily.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Gurel controlling from the top position.

Leg is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Gurel is aware though and is defending well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gurel trying to stand up but can't free himself from Leg's guard.

Leg wants to sweep here but Gurel controlling him for the moment.

Leg is looking for a triangle but Gurel pushes his legs off easily.
Gurel trying to control but Leg is working from the bottom.

Leg is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Gurel defends well.
Leg is breathing heavily.

Leg working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Gurel doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Gurel manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Leg escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Gurel gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Gurel wanted to stand there but Leg had control of the position.
Gurel landing some decent shots from guard.

Gurel postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Gurel stands and steps away. Leg gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Leg gets tackled into the cage by Gurel. Gurel maintains the clinch.

Gurel escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Gurel has closed the distance and engaged Leg in a clinch.

Gurel breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Gurel moves into the clinch.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Gurel manages to break the clinch.
Leg takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jake Gurel dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Gurel will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.


It looks like Umbrella Leg has been cut.
Gurel fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Gurel gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Gurel breaks the clinch.
Leg walks into a stiff left hand from Gurel.
Gurel lands a jab to Leg's midsection.
Gurel connects with a solid leg kick.
Gurel listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.

Gurel lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
A nice inside leg kick there by Gurel. That's going to slow Leg down.
Leg is looking light on his feet compared to last time was saw him fight.

Gurel drives through and clinches with Leg against the cage.

Gurel escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
A head kick misses from Gurel.
Leg takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Jake Gurel is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Gurel moves into the clinch successfully.

Gurel breaks the clinch.

Gurel throws a right and a left that both miss.
Gurel's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Gurel duly obliges.
Gurel fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Leg.
Gurel lands a slapping body shot.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
A left and a right from Gurel both land. Nice combination.

Gurel shoots in and bounces Leg off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Gurel decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Leg, up you get!
That kick from Gurel tenderised Leg's leg. Leg is trying to keep his angry face on.
Gurel lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Gurel.
Leg blocks a head kick by Gurel.
Gurel throws a nice looking combination but Leg bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Gurel.
Jake Gurel has got the better of the ground game so far.

Gurel stands up.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Leg dodges the punch combination from Gurel.
Gurel connects with the punch.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Leg has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Gurel.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jake Gurel showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The cut man is working on Umbrella Leg's cut.
That's time! Leg's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Gurel lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Gurel throws a right hand that Leg ducks under and follows up with a left that Leg also avoids with ease.
Jake Gurel seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Gurel lands a two punch combo.
Leg takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Gurel misses with the combination.
Gurel stalks Leg and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Leg's face. Leg staggers backwards, shaken.

Leg gets caught flat footed, as Gurel shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Leg has his foot on Gurel's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Gurel works his way back into a safe position though.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Gurel postures up.

Gurel got a little sloppy there for a moment and Leg has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Gurel has managed to get both his arms back between Leg's legs - danger averted.
Gurel won't allow Leg to sweep him here.
Gurel lands a couple of digs.
Leg keeping full guard, as Gurel tries to pass.
Gurel wanted to stand there but Leg had control of the position.

Leg is looking for a triangle but Gurel pushes his legs off easily.
Leg not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Gurel trying to control the position from guard on top but Leg is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Gurel throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Leg.
Gurel throws a right hand that Leg ducks under and follows up with a left that Leg also avoids with ease.
Gurel lands a really nice looking cross but Leg seems unphased.

Leg tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Gurel connects with a crisp jab.

Gurel throws a series of punches but Leg avoids them all with ease.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Gurel cracks Leg with a solid left hand.
Umbrella Leg has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Jake Gurel is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Leg has his foot on Gurel's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Gurel works his way back into a safe position though.
Gurel wants to stand but Leg has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Gurel is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Gurel would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Jake Gurel comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Gurel has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
