PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mat Kowalak (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Carlos Danger (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Carlos Danger was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Mat Kowalak!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Carlos Danger!
The judges for this bout are Dirk Anderson, Sandra Marshall and Peter Branson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kowalak dives in for a single leg takedown but Danger sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Danger breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Danger lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Nice uppercut there from Danger.
Danger misses with a straight right.
Kowalak takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Danger throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Kowalak will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Danger tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Kowalak was well out of range. Poor timing from Danger.
Kowalak definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Danger connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Kowalak shoots in but Danger avoids the takedown attempt easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mat Kowalak. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Kowalak walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

Kowalak tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Danger swivels and escapes.
Danger throws a hook but Kowalak avoids it easily.
Danger loads up on a big right hand but Kowalak slips the punch.
Kowalak avoids a punch combination nicely.
Carlos Danger seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Some wild striking there from Danger.
Danger tests Kowalak's chin there with a solid looking shot.
A telegraphed right hand from Danger misses the target.
Danger looks to throw the jab but Kowalak is out of range.
Danger misses with a jab, cross combination.

Kowalak tries to clinch up but Danger circles away and keeps his distance.
Danger dips to his left and cracks Kowalak with an uppercut!
Kowalak takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Kowalak ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Danger closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Danger cracks Kowalak with an open hand slap.
A jab from Danger misses.
Danger is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Kowalak.
Nice body punch from Danger.
Danger misses with a double jab.
Kowalak takes one to the side of the head.

Danger misses with a body shot.
Danger's coach down at was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Danger's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Danger showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Kowalak.
Danger punishes Kowalak's body with a nice straight punch.
Danger displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Kowalak.
Danger lands a right hook to the body.
Danger just misses with a punch to the body.
Danger connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Kowalak looks to clinch
and Danger counters with a nice body shot.
Danger works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.

Kowalak gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Kowalak gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Danger lands an overhand right.
Kowalak takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.


Kowalak is rocked!
Danger thows a left - swing and a miss!
Danger misses with an uppercut. Kowalak saw that one coming.
Danger takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Kowalak rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Danger moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Danger misses with a series of wild punches.
Kowalak throws a series of strikes that have Danger backpedaling.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Carlos Danger dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!


Kowalak goes for a double leg but Danger avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Danger continues to drive forward.
Kowalak prevents a body shot from Danger.
Danger has Kowalak pressed against the cage.
Danger tries to work over Kowalak's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Kowalak is looking for a takedown.

Kowalak jumps into guard, dragging Danger to the mat.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Danger's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Danger looking to pass the guard.
Danger must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Kowalak is looking for a triangle but Danger pushes his legs off easily.

Kowalak looking for a sweep. Not yet Kowalak, not yet.
Danger is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Carlos Danger.
Nice straight punches there by Danger. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Danger.
Danger swinging wildly here.
Kowalak drops his hands momentarily and Danger takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

Danger throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Carlos Danger is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
A big right from Danger misses.
Danger clobbers Kowalak with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Kowalak uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Danger.
Kowalak steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Danger.
Mat Kowalak is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Danger stuffs the takedown attempt from Kowalak. Kowalak gets slowly back to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mat Kowalak. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Kowalak uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Danger.
Kowalak looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Danger thows a left - swing and a miss!
Danger connects with a looping right hand.

Danger tries to bum rush Kowalak with a series of wild strikes but Kowalak uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Kowalak showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Danger.
Kowalak looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that.
Danger throws a series of punches but Kowalak avoids them all with ease.
Danger has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Kowalak shoots in but Danger avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Danger keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Kowalak darts in looking for a takedown but Danger gets double underhooks and turns Kowalak into the cage.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Danger.
Kowalak drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Kowalak tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Danger smiles and moves away.

Danger swats away the attempt to clinch by Kowalak.
Danger throws a good cross that connects.
Danger defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Kowalak.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
A right-left combo lands from Danger.
Oh Kowalak is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Kowalak ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Kowalak seems to have got his legs back now.
Danger misses with a left hand
and Kowalak counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Carlos Danger showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Kowalak shoots in but Danger avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Sloppy strikes from Danger. Those never looked like landing.
Danger misses with a wild combination.
Danger throws a lazy right hand but Kowalak sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Danger might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Kowalak takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Kowalak takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Kowalak uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Danger.
Kowalak takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Good standup being displayed there by Danger as he connects with a hook.

Danger jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Kowalak avoids the body shot from Danger.
Kowalak seems to be squinting his left eye. Perhaps he got a poke in that previous exchange. Danger shows no mercy and swarms him with a barage of strikes! Kowalak is backing up but Danger catches him with a final right hook that drops him! Kowalak covers up and the referee steps in to end the fight! Danger Jumps to his feet and flashes his guns to the crowd. Oh yeah, baby! How'd you like them apples?!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:19 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Carlos Danger!
