Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Mike Child (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Winnie Pooh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Winnie Pooh has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mike Child!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Winnie Pooh!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Winston Howard and Eliza Hachem.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pooh pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Child looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Pooh scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Pooh working away.
Child managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Pooh.
Child is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Pooh's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Child wants to improve his position but Pooh is controlling well.
Child makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Child.

Pooh drops back, looking for a kneebar! Child looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Child looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Child!
Pooh avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Child.

Child tries for a kimura but Pooh is defending well.
Pooh tries to bench press Child off him but Child keeps the position.

Child looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Pooh is avoiding damage well.
Child wants to stand but Pooh is controlling his arm.

Child decides to stand back up.

and Pooh counters with a takedown into side control.
Child is breathing heavily.

Pooh is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Child has escaped the position, nice work there.
Child manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Child wants to take a breather but Pooh is having none of it.

Child has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

and Pooh counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

Pooh lands with a slapping head kick.

Pooh keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Pooh moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Child is looking to stand up but Pooh won't let him.
Pooh manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Child manages to get himself to full guard.
Pooh passes into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Pooh is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Child defends it well.
Child moves into full guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Child not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Winnie Pooh dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!


Pooh is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.

Pooh lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!

Pooh is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Child wanted to stand there but Pooh had control of the position.
Pooh is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Pooh thows a huge punch but Child dodges it nicely.

Pooh is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Child is in trouble now - Pooh has advanced to mount!

Pooh wants to finish this one by submission but Child is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Pooh.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Pooh prevents Child from getting the reversal.
Winnie Pooh has got the better of the ground game so far.
Child has given up his back.
Child breaks Pooh's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Child wants to control from the top but Pooh keeps moving.
Pooh lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Child!

The referee warns Child that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Pooh has hold of Child's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Child manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Child keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Pooh lands with some strikes.
Pooh scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Child tries to lock up and control but Pooh gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Child prevents Pooh from taking his back.
Child slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Child wants to control but Pooh is keeping busy and won't allow it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Child looking for submissions off his back.
Pooh moves nicely into side control.
Child tries to bench press Pooh off him but Pooh keeps the position.
Child is working hard here to advance position.

Pooh working for a submission but Child is keeping him at bay.
Child slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.

Winnie Pooh showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Child doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Pooh decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Child's guard.
Child is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Child is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Pooh drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Pooh jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Pooh postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Child is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Pooh, into his guard.
Child is pushing down on Pooh's leg trying to pass to half guard. Pooh is fighting to maintain full guard but Child has managed to sneak the leg through.

Pooh is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Pooh works his way to full guard. Good work.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Child slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Child trying to control the action but Pooh is working from the bottom.

Pooh is looking for a sweep.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Pooh manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Pooh is not content to let Child control the position.
Pooh wants to improve his position but Child is controlling well.
Pooh slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Child thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Child wants to control from the top but Pooh keeps moving.

Pooh has his foot on Child's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Child works his way back into a safe position though.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Pooh throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Child.
Mike Child has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Child shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Pooh counters with a stiff right hand.

Pooh scores with a takedown into Child's guard.
Child is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Pooh is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Child looking to hit a scissor sweep but Pooh is one step ahead there.
Winnie Pooh is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Pooh not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Winnie Pooh comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Pooh has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
