PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Pip Pop (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Moe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Pip Pop!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Joe Moe!
The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Roger Salmon and Jeff Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Moe closes the distance and clinches up with Pop, looking for a takedown. Moe pushes Pop against the cage but Pop circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Horrible takedown by Pop or perhaps it was just good defense by Moe which made him look bad.

Pop clinches up with Moe and pushes him back against the cage.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Pip Pop. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Moe breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Pop shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Moe defends it nicely.

and Pop takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Moe shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Moe showed some decent athleticism there.

Moe passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Pop!
Pop manages to regain half guard. Good work.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Moe tries to pass the half guard into mount. Pop knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Pop wants to sweep here but Moe controlling him for the moment.

Pop definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Moe stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Pop swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Moe controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Moe circles away from the clinch attempt.
Pop shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Moe as he jumps to the side.
Moe shoots for a double leg takedown but Pop sprawls well. He's pushed Moe's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Pop wants to clinch up but Moe keeps it at a distance.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Pop.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Moe looks for a takedown but Pop sprawls well.
Moe thuds a left hand into Pop's body.
Moe leaves Pop with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Moe fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Pop to the ground. Moe is now in Pop's guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Moe wants to pass the guard but Pop is keeping the position.
Moe must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Pop looking to hit a scissor sweep but Moe is one step ahead there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Joe Moe dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Pop will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Pop shoots in but no luck this time.

Pop gets a double leg takedown into Moe's guard.

Pop avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Moe has his foot on Pop's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Pop works his way back into a safe position though.
Moe really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Pop. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Pop stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Moe swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Pop sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Moe's guard.
Pop wants to pass to mount but Moe is defending the position.
Pop passes to side control.
Moe takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Pop has knee on belly and moves into mount.
Pop lands a big elbow.
Pop tries to control but Moe wriggling away.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Whack. That's a big, big shot from Pop! Moe is out cold! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Pip Pop!
In defeat, Joe Moe stepped up to the mic, saying 'sorry to my fans and any one who bet on me too win !'.
