Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Danny Binns (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michael Xavier (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Binns's entrance music is Money For Nothing by Dire Straits. A fine choice. The key to victory for Danny Binns has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Danny Binns!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 1, fighting out of London, Michael Xavier!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Andrew Berry and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Xavier takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Xavier looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!

Binns feints and as Xavier raises his hands in defense, Binns changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Xavier utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Binns postures up and lands a big shot to Xavier's brow.
Xavier looking to hit a scissor sweep but Binns is one step ahead there.

Binns stands up and waves to Xavier to follow him.
Binns scores with a head kick. Xavier tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.


It looks like Michael Xavier has been cut.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Binns wants to clinch.
Binns scores with a spinning back kick!
Binns fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Binns tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Xavier manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Binns connects with a high kick.
Xavier shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Binns pinned against the cage. Binns gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Binns closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Binns digs a right hand into Xavier's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Xavier's gas tank.

Binns manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Binns looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Xavier working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.
Binns has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Danny Binns just wasn't active enough.

Binns drives through and clinches with Xavier against the cage.

Binns's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Xavier throws a body punch but Binns moves out of range.
Xavier leaves Binns with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Binns changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Xavier tries to avoid it but Binns manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Xavier to the ground. Xavier escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Danny Binns. That's going to take a lot out of him.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Xavier has a closed guard, preventing Binns from standing up.
Xavier is trying to control the position but Binns postures up.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Binns shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Binns's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Binns tries to clinch up.
Michael Xavier seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Binns slips a jab and a cross from Xavier.

Xavier changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Binns looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Binns wants to control but Xavier postures up.
Binns really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Binns sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.

Binns has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Xavier is on him like a limpet, forcing Binns back against the cage.
Xavier is breathing heavily.
Binns is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Binns can't break the clinch.

Binns jumps guard but Xavier stands there with Binns around his waist. Binns gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Binns looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Binns manages to break the clinch.
Xavier keeps the fight on the outside.
Binns closes this distance looking for a takedown but Xavier circles away.

Binns decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Xavier takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Danny Binns is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Xavier takes a kick to the side of the head.

Xavier gets underhooks to prevent Binns's takedown attempt.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Binns.
Xavier shoots in looking for a takedown but Binns manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Xavier's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Binns. Xavier shrugs it off though.
Xavier keeps the fight on the outside.
Binns leaves Xavier with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

and Xavier decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Binns's guard.

I would just about give that final round to Michael Xavier.
Well Binns has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
