PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Armando Brady (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hector Souza (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Souza has chosen Let It Go as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Armando Brady!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Hector Souza!
The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Edson Gomes and Thiago Cunha.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brady slips a jab and a cross from Souza.

Brady throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Souza tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Brady is in Souza's guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Souza is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Brady is controlling him.
Souza is looking to stand back up but Brady counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Souza.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Brady seems to be looking for submissions.
Brady is trying to control. Souza wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Brady is really struggling to control Souza but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Brady throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Souza keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Souza is trying to stand up here but Brady is controlling him well.
Brady throws a strike but Souza avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
Brady really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Souza is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Brady postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Brady with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Brady working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Souza is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Souza wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Brady manages to pass to side control.
Brady stops Souza from getting back to his feet.

Brady is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Souza wants to get back to his feet.
Brady will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Brady wants to work for an arm triangle but Souza is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Brady drops an elbow to the side of Souza's head.
Souza is trying to stand up here but Brady is controlling him well.
Souza is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
Brady lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Armando Brady will probably get the nod.

Brady looks to clinch
and Souza counters with a left and a right that stings Brady.
Souza fails to land with a series of punches.
Brady tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Souza manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Souza throws a left and a right that both miss
and Brady counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Sloppy strikes from Souza. Those never looked like landing.
Brady tries to clinch but Souza moves out of range.
Brady tries to clinch but Souza is having none of it.
Brady dodges the punch combination from Souza.
Brady takes a shot right to the bread basket.

A jab from Brady misses.
Souza takes one on the button.
Hector Souza is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Souza throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Brady.
Brady misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
A punch combination from Souza misses.

Brady moves into the clinch.

Souza breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Souza misses with a wild body shot.

The fight stays on the outside here - Brady looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Brady misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Souza bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Brady's head.
Souza just misses with a punch to the body.
Souza throws a series of punches but Brady avoids them all with ease.
Souza scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
Souza lands a two punch combo.

Brady is rocked!

Souza lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Brady circles away quickly and effectively.
Oh Brady is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Souza swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Souza connects with a good straight punch right through the guard and follows up with a right hook and a left hook! That last one sent Brady tumbling to the canvas! Souza pours on the pressure with more strikes and the referee has no hesitation diving in to stop the fight! Brady was done - good stoppage!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:11 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Hector Souza!
