PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Bernhard Bosse (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Roy Harper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bosse comes to the cage accompanied by Thin Lizzy - Whiskey In The Jar. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Bernhard Bosse!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Roy Harper!
The judges for this bout are Radbod Blank, Nard Betker and Paulsen Ambrosius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bosse misses the jab.

Harper feints and as Bosse raises his hands in defense, Harper changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Harper throws a strike but Bosse rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Bosse pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Harper is keeping the position for now.
Harper is looking to stand up but Bosse isn't so interested in that idea.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bosse pushes down on Harper's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Bosse wants to take a breather but Harper is having none of it.
Harper wants to get back to his feet.
Harper is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.

Bosse is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Harper is just riding it out for now. Bosse eventually gives up the hold.

Bosse wants to free his trapped foot but Harper is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Bosse is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Harper is trying to control but can't.
Harper keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Harper is trying to stand.
Bosse is pressing down on Harper's thigh, looking to free his foot. Harper is holding on for now.
Bosse looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Harper with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Harper is looking for a sweep. Bosse is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Harper moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Harper wants to stand up but Bosse is controlling him.
Bosse pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Harper is keeping the position for now.

Bosse stops Harper from standing up.

Bosse is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Harper is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Harper has momentary wrist control but Bosse slips an elbow through the middle.
Bosse postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Bosse wants to pass the guard but Harper is keeping the position.
Harper really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Bosse. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Bosse prevents Harper from getting back to his feet.

Harper has an active guard here but Bosse has managed to pass into half guard.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Harper wants to get back to his feet.
Bosse is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Harper!

Harper tries to hold on but Bosse pushes him away.
Bosse throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Harper because Bosse loaded up on that one.

Bosse looking to secure an arm triangle but Harper defends it well.
Bosse wants to control the pace but Harper is squirming around nicely.
Harper can't escape the position.

Bosse with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
The referee warns Harper that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Harper is working to get back to half guard.
Bosse wants to control the pace but Harper is squirming around nicely.
Harper tries to buck Bosse off but Bosse takes his back!
Bosse has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Bosse struggling to keep hold of the position.
Bosse is trying to stick to Harper's back but Harper is turning into Bosse. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Bosse's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Harper.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Bosse is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Harper wants to get back to his feet but Bosse drags him back down.
Bosse wants to lay and pray for a moment but Harper keeps working.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Harper thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Bosse's head.

Harper wants to control from the top but Bosse keeps moving.

Bosse is really struggling to control Harper but he's trying to hold on to the position.

This has been an exciting period of action!

Bosse pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

Bosse is trying to control the action in half guard but Harper is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Harper looks like he's trying to stand up.

Harper has one foot on Bosse's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
Roy Harper seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Bosse tried to score with a low kick but Harper checks it.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Harper must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Harper rolls with it to try and escape but Bosse cranks on the arm and Harper is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
