PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cody Klein (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Daniel Halperin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Halperin is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by I am going to kill you (with the help of Muno). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.

The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Eddie Farnsworth and Bruno Lombardi.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Halperin tries for a takedown but Klein sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Halperin fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Klein throws a nice looking combination but Halperin bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Klein throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Halperin.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Halperin fails to land the takedown.
Cody Klein has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Daniel Halperin.
Klein throws a right and a left that Halperin avoids nicely.
Halperin throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Klein's waist but Klein gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Halperin off to one side.
Klein lands a two punch combo.
Klein misses with a jab, cross combination.
Klein throws a series of punches but Halperin moves out of range.

Halperin closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Klein is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
Klein tries to bench press Halperin off him but Halperin keeps the position.
Halperin tries to advance to mount but Klein denies him.

Halperin thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Halperin tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Halperin has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Halperin is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Klein is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Klein sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Halperin stops Klein from getting back to his feet.
Klein makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Klein.
Klein looking to hit a scissor sweep but Halperin is one step ahead there.

Klein looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Halperin drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Halperin jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Klein wants to get back to his feet but Halperin is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Klein is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Klein wants to sweep here but Halperin controlling him for the moment.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Klein fails to land with a series of punches.
Klein misses with a looping right.
Klein misses with a wild combination.
Halperin misses with a takedown attempt - Klein sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Klein misses with a few strikes there.

Halperin changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Klein looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Halperin tries for a kimura but Klein is defending well.

Klein explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!

Klein is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Klein is working to get back to half guard.

Halperin is controlling this nicely and is looking to make no mistakes. Klein is trying to wiggle out of this horrible position. Klein flips to his side and attempts to get a leg in for half guard. Halperin anticipates the leg and manages to get behind Klein and secures both hooks! This could be bad! Halperin slips an arm under Klein chin and tries to position for a rear naked choke. Halperin has worked the choke in now and it looks tight. Halperin is squeezing on Klein like an anaconda would it's prey. Klein fails to tap and has fallen unconscious! We've got ourselves a winner by way of a rear naked choke!
