Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Scotty Lambert (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jon Mead (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jon Mead has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Scotty Lambert!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jon Mead!
The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Aleksandr Martynov and Valeri Chadov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lambert dives in for a single leg takedown but Mead sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Lambert is trying to drag Mead to the mat but Mead just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Lambert tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Mead's elbow.

Lambert jumps into guard, dragging Mead to the mat.
Lambert will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Mead would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Mead pushes down on Lambert's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Mead throws a strike but Lambert avoids it easily and moves to full guard.

Lambert is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Lambert is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Mead wants to get back to full guard but Lambert has mounted him!

Lambert is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Mead knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Mead for a finish.

Mead is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Lambert lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Mead jumps guard but Lambert turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Lambert is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Mead is defending well for now.

Lambert is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Mead to keep the fight standing.

Lambert wants to get back to striking at distance but Mead won't allow it.
Mead gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Lambert.

Mead has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Lambert after a bit of a struggle.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Scotty Lambert overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Jon Mead has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Lambert, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
