PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dimon Boets (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cain Velasquez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Boets kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Штиль. Velasquez has chosen UFC - Face the Pain as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 23 - 10 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Cain Velasquez!
The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Illya Tyunina and Aleksandr Martynov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A left and a right from Boets both land. Nice combination.
Boets looks to land a right hand but Velasquez moved out of range.
Boets misses with a few strikes there.
Boets thows a body shot but no joy.
Boets tries to clinch but Velasquez moves away

and Velasquez counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Boets's guard now.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Velasquez in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Velasquez forces his way into half guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Boets is trying to get back to full guard.
Boets wants to control but Velasquez is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Velasquez misses with a head shot. Boets uses the momentum to regain guard.

Boets is fighting to break Velasquez's control of his arms but Velasquez is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Velasquez manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
Velasquez keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Boets's efforts to push away.

Boets breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Nice sprawl there from Velasquez as Boets shoots in.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Velasquez.

Boets closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Velasquez quickly recovers to half guard.

Velasquez looks like he's trying to stand up.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Velasquez is refusing to be controlled, as Boets sits in half guard.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
