Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jadyson Costa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mateus Mettler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jadyson Costa looks tired to me. Hopefully he has got enough gas left in the tank to put in a good performance.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Costa shoots in looking for a takedown. Mettler tries to sprawl out of it but Costa keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the ropes. Mettler manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Mettler looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Costa fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Mettler avoids it really well and circles away.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jadyson Costa. That's going to take a lot out of him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Costa tries for a takedown but Mettler sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

and Mettler counters with a shoot takedown. Costa fights it but they end up in guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Costa is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Costa is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Mettler defends well.
Mettler really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Costa. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Mettler wants to control from the top but Costa keeps moving.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Mettler working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.

The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Costa is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Mettler frees his head nicely. Oh but Costa has switched to an armbar! Mettler is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
