PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ace Kennedy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eric Stewart (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Stewart has chosen Wiz Khalifa - Work Hard Play Hard as his entrance music. On his way into the cage it seems that Ace Kennedy has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Ace Kennedy seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Ace Kennedy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Eric Stewart!
The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, William Gold and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Kennedy misses with a hook
and Stewart counters with a left and a right that stings Kennedy.

Kennedy closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Stewart to the mat! Stewart manages to get full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Kennedy throwing strikes but missing.
Kennedy has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Kennedy trying to control the position from guard on top but Stewart is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Kennedy lands a couple of elbows.
Kennedy passes Stewart's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Kennedy tries to pass to full mount but Stewart defends it.
Kennedy seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Stewart does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Kennedy wants to pass to mount but Stewart is defending the position.

Stewart manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Kennedy moves nicely into side control.

Kennedy swings around for an armbar but Stewart sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Kennedy's guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kennedy is looking for a triangle but Stewart pushes his legs off easily.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Stewart wants to control from the top but Kennedy keeps moving.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ace Kennedy dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Kennedy drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Kennedy accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Ace Kennedy overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Stewart can't keep his opponent in guard - Kennedy advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Stewart is not content to let Kennedy control the position.
Stewart avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Kennedy.

Stewart won't allow Kennedy to pass to mount.
Stewart is not content to let Kennedy control the position.
Kennedy is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Stewart is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

We're going to have a standup here because Ace Kennedy wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Stewart avoids the body shot from Kennedy.
Kennedy misses with a takedown attempt - Stewart sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Ace Kennedy seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Kennedy looks to score with a jab to the body but Stewart is just out of range.

Kennedy fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Stewart to the ground. Kennedy is now in Stewart's guard.
Kennedy stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Stewart swivels though and keeps the full guard.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Kennedy shoots in for a takedown but Stewart shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Kennedy lands with a shot to the body.

Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Kennedy swings for the body but Stewart moves out of range.
Kennedy fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Stewart manages to avoid it.

Kennedy misses with a hook to the body
and Stewart counters with a three punch combo that has Kennedy backing up. Kennedy nods at Stewart to acknowledge the strikes.
Kennedy swings for the body but Stewart moves out of range.
Kennedy closes the distance and clinches up with Stewart, looking for a takedown. Kennedy pushes Stewart against the cage but Stewart circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Kennedy throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Stewart tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Kennedy is in Stewart's guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Kennedy stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Stewart swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Kennedy throws a strike but Stewart rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Ace Kennedy just wasn't active enough.
A looping hook to the body misses from Kennedy. Stewart does a little dance to reset his feet.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Kennedy fails with the takedown.

and Stewart counters with a left and a right that stings Kennedy.
Kennedy shoots in but Stewart avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Eric Stewart has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Kennedy shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Eric Stewart.
I think Kennedy has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
