PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lagar Prechnyan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sir Wesley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Lagar Prechnyan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Sir Wesley!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, James Ackerman and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Wesley moves into the clinch successfully.
Wesley is pushing Prechnyan up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Wesley lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Wesley stalling.
Wesley is pressed up against the cage. Prechnyan has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Wesley down to the mat. Wesley avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Prechnyan is defended easily by Wesley.
Wesley scores with a nice head shot.
Prechnyan shoots in looking for a takedown. Wesley tries to sprawl out of it but Prechnyan keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Wesley manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lagar Prechnyan. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Prechnyan shoots in but Wesley avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Wesley moves into the clinch successfully.
Wesley has Prechnyan pushed against the cage.
Prechnyan definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Wesley stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.
Prechnyan is breathing heavily.

A short body shot lands from Wesley as the two fighters clinch.

Wesley wants the takedown. Prechnyan is fighting it off but Wesley persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Prechnyan's guard against the cage.
Wesley must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Wesley content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Wesley is in close to Prechnyan's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Prechnyan has momentary wrist control but Wesley slips an elbow through the middle.
Wesley works over Prechnyan with some ground and pound from guard.
Prechnyan might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Wesley postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Wesley keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Prechnyan's head.

Prechnyan is looking for a triangle but Wesley pushes his legs off easily.
Wesley advances position into side control!

Wesley lands a nice forearm strike.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Prechnyan takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Prechnyan manages to get back to half guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wesley working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Wesley wants to pass the guard but Prechnyan is defending well.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Wesley looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Prechnyan with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Wesley looks to land a strike but Prechnyan avoids it nicely and regains full guard.
Wesley stands up over Prechnyan, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Prechnyan wants to control from the top but Wesley keeps moving.

Prechnyan won't allow Wesley to sweep him here.
Prechnyan stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Wesley swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Sir Wesley.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Wesley shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Prechnyan pinned against the cage. Prechnyan gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Prechnyan drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Prechnyan jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Wesley wants to sweep here but Prechnyan controlling him for the moment.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sir Wesley dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Prechnyan shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Wesley as he jumps to the side.
Prechnyan fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Wesley avoids it really well and circles away.
Lagar Prechnyan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A combination from Prechnyan does no damage.
Prechnyan shoots for a double leg takedown but Wesley sprawls well. He's pushed Prechnyan's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lagar Prechnyan. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Prechnyan looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Wesley is fending him off so far but Prechnyan persists. Nope, Wesley circles away and we're back to standing.

Prechnyan walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Wesley avoids the head kick by Prechnyan.

Wesley throws a good cross that connects.
Wesley leaves Prechnyan with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Wesley works Prechnyan's body with a nice hook.

Wesley fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Prechnyan sprawls well initially but Wesley persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Wesley slips a nice elbow through Prechnyan's hands, connecting with Prechnyan's forehead.
Prechnyan could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Wesley moves into full mount! Prechnyan won't be happy about that!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Wesley postures up and throws a massive shot that knocks Prechnyan out cold! Two more strikes to his unconscious opponent for good luck and this one is all over! Wesley goes absolutely crazy with his corner! Wow, you can see how much that win means to him!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Sir Wesley!
Lagar Prechnyan spoke after the fight, saying 'Well what can I say? He's a thought guy and he showed it tonight. Let's hear it for him. I'll be back and you can bet I'm gonna rebound from this and I'll make the fans proud'.
