Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Darrel Hopper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryan Jenkins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jenkins has chosen Born in the USA as his entrance music. Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Ryan Jenkins enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Darrel Hopper!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Ryan Jenkins!
The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Colin Fray and Chris Saunders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jenkins shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Hopper's guard.
Jenkins trying to control but Hopper is working from the bottom.
Jenkins controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Hopper is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Jenkins missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Jenkins wants to control from the top but Hopper keeps moving.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Ryan Jenkins was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Jenkins drives through with a takedown into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Jenkins wants to control from the top but Hopper keeps moving.

Jenkins is looking to pass into half guard but Hopper pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Hopper is in guard.

Jenkins is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Jenkins can do anything to dispel that myth.

Hopper stands up over Jenkins, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Hopper got a little sloppy there for a moment and Jenkins has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Hopper has managed to get both his arms back between Jenkins's legs - danger averted.

Jenkins utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Hopper gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Jenkins to score an easy takedown into full guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Hopper bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Jenkins's guard.
Hopper wants to control from the top but Jenkins keeps moving.
Hopper with a flurry of punches that miss.

Jenkins is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Hopper is looking to work some ground and pound but Jenkins has wrist control.

Jenkins is pulling down on Hopper's head. It's preventing any offense from Hopper, at least for the moment.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Jenkins is landing with some decent strikes but Hopper is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Ryan Jenkins will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Jenkins looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Hopper is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Jenkins pulls his head out easily.
Jenkins thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Hopper's head.
Hopper won't allow Jenkins to pass to mount.

Hopper tries to roll over but Jenkins keeps him under control.
Jenkins takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Jenkins has decided to stand back up but his arm is trapped. Whilst he's worrying about his arm, Hopper works to full guard.

Jenkins stands up from Hopper's guard - Jenkins perhaps looking for a knockout.

Jenkins drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Jenkins is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Hopper knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Jenkins goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Hopper rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Jenkins's guard! Nice work there by Hopper!

Ryan Jenkins showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!



A momentary lapse in concentration from Hopper enables Jenkins to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Hopper manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Jenkins stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hopper swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Jenkins wants to get up but he can't break Hopper's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Hopper is working an open guard so Jenkins takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

and Hopper counters with a three punch combo that has Jenkins backing up. Jenkins nods at Hopper to acknowledge the strikes.

Jenkins is stalling here. Hopper is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Jenkins seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Hopper has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

I would just about give that final round to Ryan Jenkins.
Well Jenkins has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
