Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Steve Henderson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Josh Hayes!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Tiny Johnson and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Henderson gets tackled into the cage by Hayes. Hayes maintains the clinch.
Henderson fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Henderson wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Hayes has him pressed against the cage.

Hayes breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Horrible takedown attempt by Hayes or perhaps it was just good defense by Henderson, which made it look bad.
Hayes misses with a double jab.
Hayes misses with a jab, cross combination.
Henderson stuffs the takedown attempt from Hayes. Hayes gets slowly back to his feet.
Henderson avoids the body shot from Hayes.
Hayes lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Henderson circles away quickly and effectively.
Hayes misses with the combination.
Hayes shoots in but Henderson avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Steve Henderson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Josh Hayes.
Hayes misses with a few strikes there.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Henderson avoids the head kick by Hayes.
Josh Hayes seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hayes throws a right hand that Henderson ducks under and follows up with a left that Henderson also avoids with ease.
Henderson shoots in and drives through. Hayes sprawls well.
Henderson dodges the punch combination from Hayes.
Hayes looks winded!
Hayes fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Henderson keeps the fight on the outside.
Hayes throws a body punch but Henderson moves out of range.

Hayes has managed to clinch.

Hayes breaks from the clinch.
A shot to the body from Hayes misses

and Henderson counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Henderson has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Hayes defend it? Henderson steps over the head and cranks it - Hayes is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Henderson!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Steve Henderson!
