Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Miguel Rodriguez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Johnny Bonsai (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bonsai has chosen Mama Said Knock You Out as his entrance music. There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Johnny Bonsai!
The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Colin Fray and Roger Salmon.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rodriguez manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Bonsai on his heels. He'll look to pass Bonsai's guard now, I'm sure.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Bonsai is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bonsai is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Bonsai striking off his back but it's not causing Rodriguez any problems.
Rodriguez stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Bonsai swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Bonsai is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Rodriguez is controlling him.
Bonsai manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Rodriguez manages to get himself to full guard.

Bonsai throwing strikes from guard but Rodriguez blocks nicely.
Bonsai wants to stand but Rodriguez is controlling his posture from full guard.
Bonsai engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

Johnny Bonsai has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Rodriguez.

Bonsai shoots in and bounces Rodriguez off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Bonsai controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Rodriguez is trying to control the position but Bonsai postures up.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Bonsai won't allow Rodriguez to sweep him here.
Rodriguez bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Bonsai's guard.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Bonsai holds on and takes a little breather.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rodriguez wants to control from the top but Bonsai keeps moving.

Bonsai is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Rodriguez's half guard.
Rodriguez tries to roll over but Bonsai keeps him under control.

Bonsai controlling the action here.
Bonsai wants to get back to his feet.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Bonsai is trying to control the action in half guard but Rodriguez is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Rodriguez fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Bonsai manages to avoid it.
Bonsai stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Bonsai wants it to stay on the feet.

Rodriguez shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Bonsai sprawls well. Bonsai wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Rodriguez gets slowly back to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Miguel Rodriguez. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Bonsai is looking to clinch but Rodriguez is avoiding it.

and Bonsai counters with a crisp one two that drops Rodriguez! Bonsai thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Rodriguez to his feet! Rodriguez is in big trouble!

Bonsai closes the distance looking for a takedown. Bonsai picks Rodriguez up and slams him brutally to the floor. Rodriguez is out! He's out cold! Wow, you don't see a finish like that every day!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:51 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Slam). Johnny Bonsai!
