PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Edmond Heath (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and King Durant (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Edmond Heath has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Edmond Heath!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, King Durant!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Gwen Towbar and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Durant fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Heath sprawls well initially but Durant persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Heath really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Heath is looking to control Durant's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Heath avoid being mounted?
Durant is trying to control. Heath wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Heath kicks Durant off and gets back to his feet.

Heath fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Durant sprawls well initially but Heath persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Durant tries to kick Heath off but Heath keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Heath looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Durant with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Heath is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Durant is just riding it out for now. Heath eventually gives up the hold.
Heath performing his best blanket impression for a moment.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Durant scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Heath manages to mount him!
Durant wants to control but Heath is having none of it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Heath lands a big elbow.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Heath is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Durant can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Heath takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Heath breaks from Durant's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Heath is landing with some decent strikes but Durant is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Durant is working to get back to half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Durant is looking to get to half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Heath controlling from mount.
Durant is trying desperately to improve position.
Heath avoids the attempt from Durant to control.
Heath controlling from mount.
Durant wants to control but Heath is having none of it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Heath looking to control and managing it successfully.
Heath has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Durant is trying desperately to improve position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Edmond Heath dominated that round.
That's time! Heath's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.



A momentary lapse in concentration from Heath enables Durant to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Heath manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Heath will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Durant tries to free his leg and advance position but Heath is retaining full guard.
Heath is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Heath is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Heath is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Durant sees it coming and defends easily.
Heath perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Durant is trying to control but Heath passes into side control!
Durant is not content to let Heath control the position.
Durant can't do much from the bottom here.
Heath wants to control but Durant is keeping him busy.
Heath taking a breather here.
Heath lands a decent elbow from side control.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Heath controlling the position.
Durant is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
You can see the frustration on Durant's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Heath in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
Heath is looking to take a break and control but Durant is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Durant tries to improve position but can't.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Heath working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Durant tries to control but Heath manages to take his back.
Heath controls the action.
Heath is working the ground and pound here and the referee is taking a close look at Durant. He must escape soon or this one will be stopped.
Heath has the hooks in. Durant is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
Heath scores with punches and elbows.
Durant trying to control the position but Heath manages to sink in the hooks.

Heath has got one arm under Durant's chin. This could be trouble... Durant trying to control the other hand but Heath gets it free and sqeezes tight - just a matter of time now! Yep, Durant has tapped out! The fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Edmond Heath!
