Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Leandro Alves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steve Partridge (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Alves kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Thin Lizzy - Angel of Death. Steve Partridge has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Robert Douchet and William Peck.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alves misses with a few strikes there.
Partridge swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Alves tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Partridge was well out of range. Poor timing from Alves.
Partridge throws a hook but Alves blocks it.
Partridge throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Partridge jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Alves closes this distance looking for a takedown but Partridge circles away.
Partridge throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Alves counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Partridge thinking.
A nice combination there by Partridge.

Alves decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Alves is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Alves is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

Alves has hold of Partridge's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Partridge manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Alves lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.

Alves with shots to the head and body - Partridge looks very uncomfortable down there.

Alves is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Partridge has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Alves looking for a guillotine from mount but Partridge is having none of it.
Alves has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Alves goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Partridge turns into him and now he's in Alves's guard.
Partridge tries to stand but Alves is controlling from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Partridge is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
Alves is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Partridge told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.

Alves seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.
Alves has a closed guard, preventing Partridge from standing up.
Alves controls Partridge momentarily but Partridge frees himself.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Partridge wanted to stand there but Alves had control of the position.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Partridge got a little sloppy there for a moment and Alves has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Partridge has managed to get both his arms back between Alves's legs - danger averted.

Alves looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Partridge is defending well. Alves quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Partridge has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Alves celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.
