Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rob Ramirez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matsumae Sukeyuki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rob Ramirez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 14 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Matsumae Sukeyuki !
The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Felipe Paraventi and Daniel Cesar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sukeyuki shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Ramirez manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Ramirez manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Sukeyuki manages to get himself to full guard.
Sukeyuki is striking but Ramirez is not phased and passes to half guard.
Ramirez is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Sukeyuki !
Sukeyuki wants to control but Ramirez is having none of it.
Sukeyuki is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Ramirez is staying active.
Ramirez wants to control the pace but Sukeyuki is squirming around nicely.
Ramirez is really struggling to control Sukeyuki but he's trying to hold on to the position.

It looks like Matsumae Sukeyuki has been cut.

Ramirez is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!
Matsumae Sukeyuki seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ramirez fails with the takedown
and Sukeyuki counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Sukeyuki keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Ramirez.
Sukeyuki moves out of range of the strikes.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Ramirez lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Sukeyuki has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Sukeyuki and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Ramirez moves in looking to clinch but Sukeyuki pushes him off.
Ramirez throws a nice looking combination but Sukeyuki bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

and Sukeyuki counters by moving into the clinch.

Sukeyuki jumps guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Ramirez missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Ramirez accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Ramirez controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Sukeyuki is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Sukeyuki wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Ramirez is now in half guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Sukeyuki can do anything to dispel that myth.
Ramirez tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
Ramirez passes to full mount!
Ramirez can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Sukeyuki is looking to escape.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Ramirez has hold of Sukeyuki 's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Sukeyuki manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Ramirez is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Sukeyuki is surviving well by controlling Ramirez's body position as best he can.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Sukeyuki is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rob Ramirez dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Matsumae Sukeyuki 's cut.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Ramirez tries to close the distance and clinch but Sukeyuki swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Sukeyuki wants to land a leg kick but Ramirez is out of range.
Sukeyuki scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.

Sukeyuki closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Ramirez did well to prevent Sukeyuki getting side control.
Ramirez moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Sukeyuki trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sukeyuki trying to control but Ramirez is working from the bottom.
Ramirez is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Sukeyuki wants to control from the top but Ramirez keeps moving.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Ramirez is on top in guard.
Ramirez's corner is telling him to maintain position.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
A combination from Ramirez does no damage.
Ramirez throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Sukeyuki 's waist but Sukeyuki gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Ramirez off to one side.

Ramirez lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Sukeyuki circles away quickly and effectively.
Sukeyuki lands with a right hand.
Sukeyuki has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Ramirez is landing a low percentage of strikes.

Sukeyuki moves into the clinch successfully.
Sukeyuki tries to land a knee to the head but Ramirez blocks with his arms.

Ramirez breaks from the clinch.

Sukeyuki gets a double leg takedown into Ramirez's guard.
Sukeyuki wants to get up but he can't break Ramirez's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Ramirez is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Sukeyuki looks like he's trying to stand up.

Ramirez seems to be looking for submissions.

Ramirez decides to return to a standing position.
Sukeyuki shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Ramirez but Ramirez pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Rob Ramirez is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Sukeyuki leaves Ramirez with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Sukeyuki stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Sukeyuki wants it to stay on the feet.

Ramirez fails to land the takedown.
Ramirez walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Sukeyuki checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Ramirez tries to close the distance and clinch but Sukeyuki swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Sukeyuki shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Ramirez's guard.

Ramirez wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Sukeyuki , who protects the arm well.
Ramirez wants to lay and pray for a moment but Sukeyuki keeps working.

Ramirez decides to take the fight back to the feet.

No luck for Ramirez with that takedown attempt.

Rob Ramirez overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Matsumae Sukeyuki comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Sukeyuki has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
