PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Barry Benson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nate Kart (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kart leaves Benson with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Benson works over Kart's head and body with a nice combination.
Kart looks for a takedown but Benson sprawls well.
Benson is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Kart.

Benson feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Kart is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Benson is aware though and is defending well.

Kart has his foot on Benson's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Benson works his way back into a safe position though.

Kart throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Benson escapes and throws Kart's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Benson has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Benson is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Kart looks calm but he's in trouble here. Benson gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Kart is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Benson lets go of the hold and Kart can pop his arm back in it's socket.
