PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Charles Carlyle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Little Yoshi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Yoshi is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: PRIDE FC. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Little Yoshi!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, William Gold and Sam Margolis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Yoshi misses with an uppercut

and Carlyle counters with a nice double leg into side control. Yoshi won't be happy with that.
Yoshi can't do much from the bottom here.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Yoshi can do anything to dispel that myth.

Yoshi is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Carlyle pulls his head out easily.

Yoshi escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Carlyle gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Carlyle postures up in Yoshi's guard and throws a big left but Yoshi blocks it.

Carlyle's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Yoshi keeping moving, preventing Carlyle from controlling successfully.
Carlyle won't allow Yoshi to sweep him here.
Carlyle throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Carlyle stands and throws Yoshi's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Carlyle will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Yoshi is trying to control Carlyle's posture but Carlyle avoids it.

Carlyle thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Charles Carlyle dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Yoshi lands a nice shot that snaps Carlyle's head back.
Yoshi bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Carlyle ducks under a wild hook from Yoshi.
Yoshi misses with a jab, cross combination.
Yoshi rushes in with a sloppy looking punch

and Carlyle counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Yoshi looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Carlyle wants to control from the top but Yoshi keeps moving.
Carlyle loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Carlyle has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Carlyle drops back looking for a leg! Yoshi is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Yoshi manages to kick Carlyle off! Carlyle jumps back into Yoshi's guard.

Carlyle is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Yoshi has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Carlyle is looking to defend but Yoshi has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Carlyle! Yoshi pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Carlyle taps out and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:32 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Little Yoshi!
