Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Winfred Dillard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nate Donovan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). This should be a great matchup!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Winfred Dillard!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Nate Donovan!
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Dean Styles and Joseph Jones.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Donovan feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Donovan missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Donovan not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Dillard will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Dillard controls Donovan momentarily but Donovan frees himself.

Nate Donovan has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Donovan wants to clinch up but Dillard keeps it at a distance.
Dillard fails with a takedown attempt.

Donovan drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Dillard is trying to control the position but Donovan postures up.

Donovan is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Dillard is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Dillard wants to sweep but no luck.

Dillard escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Donovan gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Dillard is looking for a triangle here but Donovan uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

Donovan is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Dillard knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Dillard is trying to improve his position.
Dillard is working to avoid the ground and pound but Donovan connects with a decent elbow.
Dillard is looking for a sweep.

Donovan tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Donovan has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Donovan swings around for an armbar but Dillard sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Donovan's guard.

Dillard lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

Donovan is looking for a triangle but Dillard pushes his legs off easily.
Dillard has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Donovan bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Dillard's guard.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Donovan moves in looking to clinch but Dillard pushes him off.

Donovan closes the distance and clinches.
Dillard fails to pull guard.

Donovan ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Donovan no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Donovan pulls Dillard in close to prevent any damage.

Donovan is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Nate Donovan hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Dillard avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Dillard shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Donovan as he avoids it easily.
Donovan moves to clinch but Dillard breaks away
and Dillard counters with a straight punch to the midsection.

Donovan rushes Dillard and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Donovan successfully pulls guard.

Donovan controls Dillard momentarily but Dillard frees himself.

Donovan had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Dillard defends it easily.

Dillard really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Donovan manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Dillard manages to get himself to full guard.

Donovan avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Donovan trying to control but Dillard is working from the bottom.

Dillard has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Donovan can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Dillard can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Donovan controls the pace.

Donovan looking to sit in guard and control but Dillard gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Donovan looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Dillard has picked Donovan up and slammed him! Donovan can't keep hold of the triangle and Dillard manages to pass to side control!

Dillard wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Donovan, who protects the arm well.

Nate Donovan showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!



Donovan shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Dillard is trying to defend but Donovan finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Donovan wants to pass the guard but Dillard is defending well.
Donovan stalling.
Donovan wants to take a breather but Dillard is having none of it.
Dillard is looking for a sweep. Donovan is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Dillard trying to get back to full guard but Donovan takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount!

Poor strikes thrown by Donovan there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

Dillard avoids a series of strikes thrown by Donovan.
Donovan throws a strike there. Dillard manages to avoid it well and slips a leg under to get to half guard.
Dillard is looking to control Donovan's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Dillard avoid being mounted?

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Donovan seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Dillard does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Donovan stands up out of the half guard.
Dillard closes this distance looking for a takedown but Donovan circles away.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Donovan drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Donovan decides to stand up, so the ref orders Dillard to his feet.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Donovan shoots in and gets a takedown into Dillard's guard.
Donovan trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Donovan wants to stand and escape but instead Dillard has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Dillard throws a strike but Donovan rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Donovan gets to his feet - Dillard follows without any prompting.

Donovan throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Dillard was covering up waiting for the punch and Donovan finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Donovan decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Nate Donovan is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Donovan closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Donovan lands in his opponent's guard.

Dillard working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Donovan has passed into half guard!

And that's the end of the fight!
Nate Donovan comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Donovan has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
