Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jack Daniels!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Jamie Hartigan!
The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Shigeki Sano and Taro Takaoka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Daniels shoots for a double leg takedown but Hartigan sprawls well. He's pushed Daniels's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Hartigan gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Hartigan is looking for a triangle but Daniels pushes his legs off easily.
Hartigan wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Daniels is now in half guard.
Daniels is looking to take a break and control but Hartigan is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Hartigan desperately trying to maintain half guard.
Daniels is tying to control. Hartigan wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Hartigan is controlling Daniels's position as best he can from this difficult position.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Daniels changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Hartigan looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

and Daniels decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Hartigan's guard.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!
Hartigan tries to lock up and control but Daniels gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Hartigan is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Daniels seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Hartigan does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Daniels closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Hartigan looks to move to half guard but instead Daniels has passed into mount! Damn!
Hartigan is desperately trying to improve his position but Daniels has a good base and remains in mount.

Daniels tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Daniels landing strikes from the mount and Hartigan is in trouble!

Daniels is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Hartigan can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Hartigan wants to control but Daniels is having none of it.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Daniels cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Daniels throws a low kick but it's checked well by Hartigan.
Hartigan thows a body shot but no joy.
Daniels avoids the head kick by Hartigan.
Hartigan throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.

Daniels looking for a takedown here - he's got it.

Daniels gets to his feet - Hartigan follows without any prompting.
Daniels throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Hartigan's head.

and Daniels counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Hartigan's guard now.

Hartigan looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Daniels has picked Hartigan up and slammed him! Hartigan can't keep hold of the triangle and Daniels manages to pass to side control!

Daniels tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.

Daniels fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Hartigan sprawls well initially but Daniels persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Daniels wants to stand up but Hartigan has a hold of him and won't allow it.
Hartigan is trying to get back to full guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Daniels can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Hartigan is looking to escape.
Daniels takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Daniels, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
