Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ricky Lawler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mika Takkala (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lawler's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Tom Petty- I Wont Back Down. Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Ricky Lawler!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mika Takkala!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Daniel Franklin and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lawler scores with a jab.

Lawler has managed to clinch.
Lawler working some nice short punches in the clinch.
Lawler lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.

Lawler breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Lawler cracks a nice hook into Takkala's ribs.

Lawler gets caught flat footed, as Takkala shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Takkala trying to move into half guard but instead Lawler has managed to sweep!
Lawler wants to stand but Takkala has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Takkala is looking to stand up but Lawler isn't so interested in that idea.
Lawler has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Takkala is proving hard to escape from.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Takkala is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Takkala avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Lawler avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Lawler would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Takkala not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Lawler looking to pass the guard.
Our spies down at at Bi-polar Asylum inform us that Takkala has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?
Takkala is looking to stand up but Lawler isn't so interested in that idea.
Lawler working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Takkala is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Lawler throws an elbow that misses. Takkala uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Lawler's guard. Nice move by Takkala!
Lawler looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
Lawler looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Lawler wants to stand but Takkala is controlling the position.
Lawler is trying to hold Takkala in close to prevent damage but Takkala has managed to pass into half guard.
Takkala is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Takkala lands a big elbow.
Takkala can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Lawler is looking to escape.

Takkala swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Lawler is now in Takkala's guard. A big mistake from Takkala there, giving up the dominant position!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Takkala is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Takkala wants to stand up but Lawler is controlling him.
Takkala looking to hit a scissor sweep but Lawler is one step ahead there.
Takkala is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Takkala lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Lawler has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Takkala is working away from the top position though.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Takkala controlling the pace.
Lawler is trying to get back to full guard.
Takkala sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Lawler defending well though.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Takkala not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Lawler tries to roll over but Takkala keeps him under control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Mika Takkala will probably get the nod.
That's time! Lawler's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


A combination from Lawler does no damage.
A low kick from Takkala is predictable there
and Lawler counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
A jab lands there for Lawler.
Lawler tried to score with a low kick but Takkala checks it.
Takkala blocks a head kick by Lawler.

Lawler gets a clinch.

Lawler breaks from the clinch.
Lawler dodges the punch combination from Takkala.
Lawler throws a head kick but Takkala moves out of range.
Lawler throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Takkala.
Takkala shoots in looking for a takedown but Lawler manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Takkala's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Lawler tries to clinch up.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Takkala misses with a straight left.

Lawler clinches up against the cage.
Lawler lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Takkala or not.

Takkala escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Lawler throws a head kick but Takkala moves out of range.
Takkala misses with a looping left.
Some wild striking there from Lawler.
Lawler lands with a nice combination. Takkala backs away looking to recover.
Lawler scores with a sloppy right hand. Takkala should have avoided that one.


Takkala is rocked!
Lawler fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Lawler throws a lazy right hand but Takkala sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Lawler connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Takkala is still on wobbly legs! Can Lawler finish him?

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Lawler closes the distance and lands a vicious right hand that drops Takkala! Lawler dives in looking to finish! Takkala is still trying to defend himself but he's taking too many shots and the referee has no choice but to stop the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:10 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Ricky Lawler!
